Dump Your Folding Chair – Go Premium
Let us take a look at the features in detail: As I said this is one of the first models AKRacing released – that’s why the features are just basic. Basic does not mean anything bad at all here – these standard models deliver good bang for the buck, are not as expensive as more functional top tier chairs and not every gamer wants to spend 400 quid on his chair. That is why I like this one. It comes with only 1D armrests, and unfortunately, the armrests are a bit wobbly – that is a common problem of first generation chairs. But to be honest, that never bothered me. Before you start mocking about a lack of adjustability, think about how you would actually use the additional directions in practise. 4D is a beautiful thing on paper, but by no means a must-have.
The Premium Series comes with a steel frame, an aluminium base, cold foam with a density of 55kg/m³ and high-quality PU leather covering. Of course, you can expect lumbar and neck pillows, a backrest that can be reclined to an angle of up to 180° and 12° lockable rocking of the seat. AKs Premium supports a maximum user weight of 150kg.
Design Alternatives & Original Accessories
As you can see, AKRacing provides a few design alternatives. I usually keep it simple when it comes to choosing new review-objects – I like decent & elegant designs. But no matter what kind of designs you are into, AK has a proper model for you. In case you want to see all the offered design options, please follow → this link to Amazon.
Before you order your Premium model, consider that there are some handy accessories available. If you want to increase your sitting height, you can buy the → extended gas lift, which enables you to sit 2cm higher. Furthermore, you have the option to get alternative armrest pads. There are three different types of shapes and materials that you can have a look at → here.
My favourite and recommended accessorie are the Rollerblade Casters. There are different designs and different types that you can order. Big advantage: They are much quieter than the standard casters and they go easier on your flooring. Discover them → here.
The Premium Series was drafted for the average gamer. You will sit comfortably if you are between 1.70m and 1.90m in height. However, your body weight should stand in an average relation to your height. I am pretty sure that you will not be satisfied with the Premium Series if you are 1.70m high weighing 110kg. Why? You will feel uncomfortably cramped in your thigh area. The seating surface does not offer too much space for beefier guys. People with a “regular” figure will not suffer from that; bigger gamers might moan about the side boulders pushing into their thighs. So if you are a heavier gamer, think about the EPIC Series or the new ICON that offers flattened out side boulders. For more space check out models like King & ProX or even the Tank which is perfect for people who depend on more breathing room.
To cut a long story short: If you are smaller than 1.90m and lighter than 100kg with an average or slim stature, the Premium Series is right for you.
