Secretlab produces high end gaming and office chairs. Their prices range from 200 dollars to close to 1000 dollars for a chair. The company is reputable in the world of eSports. They currently sponsor Newbee Gaming, Blazer 5 Gaming, and Tempo Storm among others. The company was founded in 2014 by Ian Ang and Alaric Choo. Both founders have backgrounds in gaming. This makes them uniquely qualified to understand the needs of top tier gamers.
Because our past reviews of DXRacer chairs have been for gamers that are 6’ and under, we have decided to make this review for the bigger folks. This is why we have selected Secretlab’s Titan series. As always, this comparison is between factory standard chairs. We have purchased no aftermarket additions or customizations beyond color selection.
DXRacer wasn’t founded by gamers. Instead, the company began making seats for sports cars and other high performance vehicles. Their goal was to provide gamers with chairs that provide a realistic gaming seat for driving games. In addition to making chairs, they also manufacture driving simulators. Like Secretlab they are well known in eSports. They sponsor Riot Games, Optic Gaming, and other teams. They also have an affiliate marketing program. You may recognize some of their affiliates as many are well known streamers and Youtubers.
To best match the chair we picked from Secretlab, we chose the Sentinel series. This chair is made for big and tall gamers. We purchased the chair as is with no additional features.
So far, the chairs we have tested have been relatively easy to put together. The Titan is no different. It took our tester maybe 20 minutes to fully assemble the chair and have it ready for action. Our tester was able to put the chair together without spending too much time on the instructions. We were impressed that it was so intuitive.
We’ve built more than one DXRacer. This one was just as easy as the rest. These chairs aren’t much different from one another. Each series is just sized a little differently. The chair came together quickly for our tester.
First things first. This is a luxurious and comfortable chair. More So than the other chairs we tested. In fact, if we didn’t know the exterior was PU leather, we would have sworn this was the real thing. Our tester noted that without the racing styling, this chair could easily fit in an executive office suite. This is also a huge seat. While DX Racers run small these run a bit on the big side. Our tester is 6’3” and well over 250. There was plenty of room for him.
In terms of gameplay, our tester only had good things to say. There’s almost no need for a break in period. The chair is comfortable from the start. They played for a couple of hours, and reported back with no stiff muscles.
The Sentinel has plenty of room to meet the needs of bigger players. It feels a bit smaller compared to the Titan, but it’s clearly a chair for the bigger players. Like other DXRacers this is a very functional chair. If you are used to slouching you may have to get used to this. Our tester said the chair was very easy to adjust and he quickly found the perfect settings.
On the negative side, he hated the head cushion. The shape was awkward. It is almost too big to be comfortable. Fortunately, the cushion can be removed. The lumbar support cushion, on the other hand, was well-received.
Our tester played for a little over two hours in this chair. He reported back the same results as other DXRacer users have. This is a comfortable gaming chair. There were no residual aches and pains after the gaming session ended.
To be honest, this one was easy. While these are both good chairs, The Secretlab model wins out. It is simply a nicer chair at a better price. Given a choice between the two, we believe the Titan gives the superior experience, and is made from higher quality materials.
